Using any excuse to throw the rule book out of the window once again, we give you Blackcurrant Bud from Burgundy. This aristocratic absolute is only ever used in fine fragrances, never in anything so humdrum as a hand cream. Yet here it is the aromatic muse, central chord and star of the fragrance. The citruses and Petitgrain are from Capua 1880, who have been making some of the world's most astonishing and sought-after citruses for five generations.

In Burgundy the blackcurrant buds are harvested prior to flowering and collected at dawn to maximise their aromatic content. The Bergamot is our own house blend of Capua's early and late harvests with small a quantity of Petitgrain Mandarinier to lend depth and herbal complexity to the flowery, bright, smooth profile of their queenly Bigarade Petitgrain.

There is an old black pine tree at Foundry Formulas housing a family of these remarkably intelligent and long-lived birds. To us they are a symbol of wisdom and good luck.
